Eugene "Gene" Peterson, 86, Littleton, Colorado, died of pancreatic cancer in Littleton, CO on April 29, 2021. Gene is survived by his wife, Janice, of 64 years; daughter Karen Foreman (Lance), sons Paul Peterson (Toni) and David Peterson (Vonnie); six grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Gene also considered Ellen Mikkelsen (Flemming), a foreign exchange student, a part of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gloria Shuman.
Gene was born in Kansas City, MO and spent his childhood in St. Joseph, MO. Gene and Jan were married August 23, 1956. He received a pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas City in 1960, and worked as a pharmacist in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. Gene and Jan owned Peterson's Medicine Chest in Arkansas City, Kansas. He devoted his life to his family, but also shared his love with friends and strangers. Gene loved music, especially Dixieland jazz. He played numerous instruments, and sang in barbershop quartets and church choirs. Services will be held June 5, 2021 at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS, at 11:00 a.m.
