Evelyn Janel Harriman (née Lagoski), lovingly known as Janel, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas, at the age of 84. Born on April 7, 1941, in Kansas City, Kansas, she lived a life filled with kindness, humor, and dedication to her family. Janel was part of the first graduating class at Shawnee Mission East High School and went on to earn a degree in Home Economics with a focus on Interior Design from Kansas State University. Janel enjoyed a fulfilling career at JCPenney, where she worked in the window coverings department for over 25 years. Known for her exceptional customer service skills, she received numerous awards during her tenure. Her commitment to excellence extended beyond the workplace; it was not uncommon for her to personally hem clients’ window coverings at home, showcasing her generosity and attention to detail. Janel's warmth and humor were hallmarks of her personality. She greeted everyone with kindness and a smile and had an uncanny ability to find joy and laughter in any situation. Her lighthearted approach to life endeared her to all who knew her. Her legacy is carried forward by her family: daughter Stacy Sourk (Dave), son Danny Harriman (Korinne), grandchildren Bailey Boggs (Hunter), Lucas Harriman, Samantha Sourk, Colin Sourk, and Seth Harriman, and sisters Becky Lagoski and Patricia Howle (Greg). She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Harriman, as well as her parents, Joe and Genevieve Lagoski and her brother, Joe Lagoski Jr. Together again with Pat, Janel’s memory will be celebrated with joy and gratitude. A Celebration of Life for Janel and Pat will be held on May 23, 2026 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial 11200 Metcalf Avenue. Visitation will begin at 9:00am.
