Evelyn Vanosdol

Evelyn Foreman VanOsdol, 90, Fairway, KS, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007 at her home.

She was born January 12, 1917 and was a life long resident of Kansas City. For 54 years, Evie was married to Paul Van Osdol, Jr., a Kansas City attorney. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri. As a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, she received the Amy Burnham Oaken Province Award. She was a member of the Kansas City Junior League and served on its Board of Directors. Evie was an active member of Country Club Christian Church, where she was a life Deacon. Among her other activities, Evie was a member of the Friends of Art, the Association of the University of Missouri, and the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club. She was a board member of the Greater K.C. Alzheimer?s Association and served on their help line. An avid reader, she served as a volunteer in the reading program of the Kansas City elementary schools.

Evie leaves a daughter, Lyn Edmonds and son-in-law William, of Sioux City, Iowa; her son Paul Van Osdol, III, and daughter-in-law Jill of Gladstone, Missouri; granddaughters, Sarah Harris of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Melissa Caravella of Gladstone; a grandson, William Tyson Edmonds of Narragansett, Rhode Island; and three great-granddaughters, Mary Van Osdol and Cicely and Ella Harris. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Eleanore Van Osdol of Leesburg, Virginia, niece Ginny Lindquist of Tampa, Florida and nephew William Van Osdol of Mountain View, California. The family is appreciative of Evie?s loyal and loving care givers.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 16, 2007 at the George Hamilton Combs Memorial Chapel, at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri. Gathering of family and friends will follow in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Country Club Christian Church or to the Alzheimer?s Association.
