Mr. George Green

July 13, 1929 — June 10, 2007

George Virgil Green left this earth June 10, 2007 after a four-month hospital stay, to meet his King of Kings at Heavens Gates. He was surrounded by family and friends at his earthly departure.

George Virgil Green was born to Harold and Bernice Green in 1929 in Topeka, Kansas. He was known during younger days as a man with integrity and a quick wit, who loved to pull school pranks. Out of his five siblings he was the only one to graduate from high school. His education was so important to him, he worked nights at a cement plant to pay for his schooling, which he took care of during the day.

After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force and quickly rose to staff Seargent. His country was of utmost importance to him, and rarely did he see the American Flag that he did not get tears in his eyes.

George Virgil Green met the love of his life, Ruth, during the end of his Air Force days. They would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on June 19. The couple definitely adored each other and very much complimented one another with their love of God, their family and friends and their undeniable love of each other at all costs. Theirs was not only a marriage of love, he often referred to her as ? His Angel? because of her dedication to him.

George Virgil Green was an electrician at Board of Public Utilities on Kansas City, Kansas for 30 years. He and Ruth opened ? My Favorite Things?, Retail Store, in 1987. They enjoyed their business and showed a love of God and family with a welcome spirit in the store.

George was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents and his siblings, Harold Jr., Maxine Wright, and Betty Ryan and Robert Green. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth, of the home; his daughter Deborah (Mark) Schroff and son Stephen.

?Papa? will inevitably be missed by Jeni and Savannah Schroff as well as Benjamin Green, who knew him as Grandpa. His Grandchildren totally adored their Papa. They felt he was gift from God. He also leaves numerous members of his family and friends to mourn their loss of this truly exceptional man.

Visitation for George will be at 11:00am on June 16th at First Family Church in Overland Park Kansas. Immediately following at noon will be a celebration of this remarkable man?s life. Memorial contributions are suggested to the G. Virgil Green Memorial Fund for Under Privileged Children in care of the Bank of Blue Valley.
