Mrs. Grace Morton

Grace Isabel Morton, 96, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014.
She was born on April 30, 1918 to Lillian B. and Robert A. Stevenson, in Wartime, Saskatchewan, Canada. Grace grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from East High School.  After high school, Grace worked at the Federal Reserve Bank.
On September 20, 1942 she married the love of her life, Eugene Morton, in Kansas City, MO. They made their home initially in Kansas City where they raised their family and eventually settled in Leawood, KS.
After teaching Sunday School and leading Girl Scout Troops, Grace became the Vice President of Morton Construction Company, working along side her husband.
Grace was a lifelong Royals fan and she and her husband would frequently travel to the team’s spring training in Davenport, FL. Grace was also a cruise enthusiast and she loved to travel the world. She was an award-winning quilter and loved to paint and draw. She also was a fierce Scrabble player, enjoyed watching tennis and was a member of the Leawood Women’s Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Morton and her daughter Jean Lee DeTalia.
Grace is survived by son, Jay and his wife Sandra; daughter Leslie and her husband Paul; grandchildren, Sally (Anthony), Steven (Kate), Shauna, Joseph and three great grandsons, David, Jacob and William.
A celebration of Grace’s life will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS, 66210. Inurnment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
