Gregory Vleisides

June 17, 1950 — September 5, 2021

Overland Park

On September 5th, Gregory William Vleisides passed peacefully.  He was 71 years old. Born on June 17th, 1950 to William Chris Vleisides and Irene Helen Vleisides, Gregory, the elder brother by 7 minutes came into the world with his best friend and beloved twin sister, Barbara Leigh Vleisides.

Like many twins they shared an unbelievably close bond that lasted a lifetime. Greg was the most adoring and protective brother.  He was the best. As a child Gregory traveled the world along with his sister & and the rest of his family.  At a young age he was exposed to music and art which fostered a deep appreciation.

Greg, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, graduated from the University of Kansas Summa Cum Laude. He attended UMKC Law School and was a respected and accomplished attorney. Greg practiced law in Kansas City for 50+ years.  Greg was Senior Partner of Vleisides, Donnelly and O'Leary.  His accomplishments are too numerous to mention. An avid reader, lover of mystery novels, and adventure movies...Greg loved stories of adventure and superheroes and loved James Bond movies.  Coincidentally, Greg was very much a hero in his work, as a specialist of medical malpractice and personal injury law - Greg dedicated much of his life to those who were unable to advocate for themselves. Known for his impeccable style and dynamic smile, when Greg walked into a courtroom with his sparkling hazel eyes and larger than life presence he commanded the attention of the room.  His larger than life presence was matched by his larger than life heart. Greg was a loyal friend, respected colleague, and an advocate for people and animals alike. Greg was a dog lover and provided a wonderful home to many dogs over the years.

Greg will be loved and remembered always for his generous heart, brilliant mind, and exquisite sense of style.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents:  William Chris Vleisides & Irene Helen Vleisides, grandparents: Peter William Karos & Jenny Mae Karos,  and Aunt Betty Mae Karos.  He is survived by his beloved twin sister, Barbara Leigh Vleiesides.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church and Wayside Waifs.
