Jacquelyn Haynes

December 12, 1964 — December 12, 2023

Overland Park

The community of Overland Park, KS, mourns the loss of Jacquelyn Haynes, known to many as Jaxs, who passed away on her 59th birthday, December 12, 2023. Born in San Bernardino, California, to Jackie Lee Rohn and Mary Lou Stephens. Jaxs spent her early years at Norwalk High School, and later made Kansas City her beloved home.

Jaxs's life was a testament to her giving spirit, always evident in her smile, her honest words, and her selfless nature. A dedicated mother and a compassionate caretaker, she touched the lives of many, both within her family and beyond. Jaxs's tenure at the KC Renaissance Festival brought her immense joy, deepening her community ties and expanding her "faimly."

Her passions were as vibrant as her personality, encompassing gardening, floral arrangement, and the thrill of traveling across the country on a motorcycle. Above all, her family was her heart's delight, especially cherishing the moments spent with her grandchildren. Jaxs's free-spirited essence, likened to a spirit riding on the backs of dragons, remains a cherished memory for all who knew her.

Jaxs was predeceased by her father, Jackie Rohn, and her brother, Michael Scott Rohn. She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Mary Lou Dokken (Sanford); her long-time partner, Steven Meyer; her ex-husband, Linden Haynes; her siblings, Jackie Rohn Jr., Sonya Dokken (Nicholas), and James Dokken; her children, Kurtis Rohn, Shawna Scanlon (Patrick), Victorya Walker, Emily Jones (Robert); and several beloved grandchildren and "adopted" children.

The family invites friends and the community to honor Jaxs's life. Visitation for family, friends and the public will be on Saturday, the 16th, from 1 to 3PM. A celebration of Jaxs's life will take place on Monday, Dec 18, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210, starting with a family visitation at 1 PM and open visitation at 1:30 PM, followed by the service at 2 PM.

Immediately following the service, the celebrating of Jaxs's life will continue at the Burg & Barrel, located on the south side of the Metcalf 76 shopping center, facing 76th Street at 7042 W. 76th Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66204. The gathering at Burg & Barrel will last until 6 PM, and we warmly welcome all of Jaxs's friends and family, including those who may not be able to attend the earlier service. Please join us for food and drinks, or just to raise a glass in memory of Jaxs. Together, let's share memories and honor the life of a truly remarkable person.

Attire for the service is blue jean casual, or Renaissance garb.
