Jan G. Jenkins

It is with great sadness the family of Jan Jenkins announces the passing of our sweet sister. Jan passed away on November 2, 2024, after a short illness. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 19, 1949, to Ray and Mary Stewart Jenkins. Jan leaves behind her siblings, Julia Hiles (Jerry Mayne), John Jenkins (Bernadette), Jeb Jenkins (Maria), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jan had a kind soul, always looking at life through “rose colored glasses”. She was quick to laugh, loved getting together with her family, and could always be counted on to join in on the activities at Lakemary. Jan was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and friends at Lakemary Community.

Jan was a real “techy”, always owning the latest model of iPhone, iPad, and many I Watches. She was especially proud of her 55” TV! Anytime someone asked her to help them learn how to use their electronic devices, Jan was overjoyed and she would respond with the biggest and brightest smile as she walked them step-by-step through the process!

With an amazing gift as a painter, Jan had a real eye for color, composition, and style. Each one of her paintings was very vibrant and eye-catching.

Jan loved to watch Royals baseball! If you called while she was watching a game, she wouldn’t answer the phone. She also enjoyed ice skating, playing tennis, and was on a bowling team for many years. Jan amazed us all when she participated in the Relay for Life one year using her walker to go around the track! She was unstoppable!

Please join us at a Celebration of Life Luncheon Reception we’re hosting in Jan’s honor on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, at Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, from 10:30 – 12:30.

Although Jan is gone, we know she will live on in the hearts of all who loved her forever! XXOOXXOO
