Jeanne S. Galamba, 80, Bucyrus, Kansas passed away peacefully on August 7, 2017 at home with her family at her side.
Jeanne was born April 6, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to Arnold Adrian & Marianne Geisel Sherwood. She graduated from St. Teresa’s Academy in 1954. As a young girl, her parents introduced her to the Lake of the Ozarks and in 1966 she started passing on her love for the lake by spending summers with her own children and grandchildren.
From 1977 - 2008 Jeanne and her husband of 43 years, Richard I Galamba, founded several scrap metal companies which later became known as Galamba Metals Group. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother and a friend to all. Her passions were long horse rides, country living and Sunday “farm dinners” at home with family and friends. It didn't matter how many showed up, she always made room! She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her generosity was like no other. She also loved frogs, ice cream, a good card game, old cars, and sunsets!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Marianne Sherwood; brother, Stephen Sherwood; and son, Gerard Strickroth.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 43 years, Richard Galamba. Their children: Adrienne Galamba (David Nida), Marienne Brown (Brad Brown), Stephen Galamba (Angela Galamba) and daughter in law Carole Strickroth. Grandchildren: Bryce Morgan, Jeanne Brown, Tieg Brown, Joseph Galamba and Adrian Galamba. Her sisters: Nathalie Haren and Mimi Sherwood and sister in law Mary Lynn Sherwood. She is also survived by her lifelong childhood friend MaryLynn Sheehy and not to mention many others who called her their mother or grandmother.
Please join the family for a Celebration of Jeanne’s Life on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the farm, 20485 Antioch Rd, Bucyrus, Kansas. It will be an outdoor sunset celebration.
