John Delbert Hull, 73, Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 18, 2026.
John, a kind and intelligent man, was born October 24, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri. His earliest adventures were lived with his parents Gene and Anna Hull, sister Connie, and brother Charles. He grew up in the KC metro, where he met the love of his life, Karen.
John graduated from University of Central Missouri with a Bachelors in Business, and in 1974, simultaneously married and began his lifelong career in telecommunications. John progressed quickly throughout the Bells and AT&T, retiring to Overland Park after an acclaimed 31-year career.
While John’s professional accomplishments were expansive and great, conversations with him centered on family adventures, his bride, and friends. He and his wife lived across Kansas, Missouri, Las Vegas, and San Diego raising their sons, coaching their sports teams, and welcoming their wives and grandchildren into the Hull family; a family of intellect, wit, laughter, and love. His leisure time was spent with his grandkids, a book, golfing, escaping to the lake, traveling, and creating memories with family and friends. John’s legacy lives on through the lessons we’ve learned, kindness he showed, and love he gave. These were his riches.
John was married for 50 years to Karen, who was eagerly awaiting him in their forever home. He’s survived by his three children, John Hull and wife gina, Olathe, KS, James Hull and wife Amy of Trophy Club, TX, Ryan Hull and wife Angela of El Dorado, KS; four grandkids, Carter (fiancé Jewel Lewis), Grant, Addison, and Landon Hull. John is also survived by his sister and brother, Connie and Charles Hull, nephews Charles Hull and Chris Van Dell; his sister-in-law, Diana Meyer and her husband Dennis, nephew Bob Wahaus and his wife Karen, niece Carrie Hawkins and her husband Kevin.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 2026 and will be a private, by invitation event. Thank you for your understanding.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to City Union Mission, Kansas City, Missouri, in remembrance of John.
