Karen Romberg

January 23, 1943 — September 30, 2021

Shawnee

Karen Romberg, 78 of Shawnee Kansas, passed away September 30, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Fredrick and Irene Miller, January 23, 1943, in Parsons, Kansas. Karen graduated from Labette County High School in 1961 and would go on to work for the Santa Fe Railroad until she retired in 2005.

Karen is survived by her husband of thirty one years, Ronald; son Troy, his wife Angela; sister, Sharen and stepson Michael, his wife Tina. She is also survived by her six grandchildren Zac, Sydney, Andrew, Sean, Shane and Helena as well as her three great grandchildren Finley, Hudson and Addison. She is preceded in death by her parents; Fredrick and Irene Miller; first husband Carl Schuh and stepdaughter Kathy.

Growing up Karen helped her mother and grandmother with sewing projects which led to a lifelong love of sewing, quilting, needlepoint and crafting custom items. Karen was a natural entrepreneur and dreamed of the day she had her own business. This was brought to fruition when her granddaughter’s softball team had a fundraiser for which she donated the proceeds of her pillowcases sales to the team, and “Karen’s Kases” was born! She truly enjoyed seeing the joy her creations brought her friends, family and customers.

Karen was known for always putting her special touch on everything she did. From her extravagant holiday decorations to her over the top celebrations for her loved ones, no detail was too small. As her health declined in recent years she was forced to lean on technology more and more to stay connected with her loved ones, there is no doubt that nothing will keep Karen aka wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister and dearest friend from finding new ways to make us all feel special when we need it the most.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Karen may be given to the American Cancer Society.
