Kenneth Lee Johnson was born July 13, 1930 in Kansas City, KS. He went to live with his Aunt Marie and Uncle Ray at a very young age. He grew up with their children - Hardin, Vernon, and Byron who he considered his brothers. He graduated from Rosedale High School and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his first overseas assignment he met and married Barbara Masterton. As a non-commissioned officer, he was relocated every three years and therefore lived in several European countries and various states within the U.S.   They had three children and last year celebrated 67 years of marriage.

He developed an interest in British soccer while living in Scotland and attended many of his favorite Hearts of Midlothian soccer matches over the years. He enjoyed traveling throughout Scotland and England at every opportunity.  Upon returning to the United States, he continued to travel whenever possible logging thousands of miles with his family in a Volkswagen Beetle.

He retired from the Air Force in 1972 after 21 years of service including a year in Vietnam. He later attended Penn Valley Community College and graduated with an associate degree in Business while working for the Kansas City Star.  His last employment was for Dodson Insurance company before he went into final retirement.

He enjoyed following current and political events especially the televised debates in the British House of Commons.

Kenneth and Barbara attended Rolling Hill Presbyterian church for many years.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his brothers and their wife’s: Hardin and Martha Johnson and Vernon and Laura Johnson.   He is survived by his wife, Barbara; Sons: William (Mary) Johnson, Glenn (Sue) Johnson, and Stewart and (Lisa) Johnson; brothers: Byron (Sonia) Johnson and Edward (Terry) Johnson; and eight grandchildren.
