Kenneth LeRoy Kissee

Kenneth (Ken) LeRoy Kissee (84) of Shawnee, Kansas went to be with our Lord and Savior while surrounded by family on December 15, 2025.

Ken was born June 17th of 1941 to William and Edra Kissee of Lenexa, Kansas. At age 21 through friends, Ken met and married the love of his life Virena (Vi) May Bridgewater. After the birth of their son Will, they moved to Shawnee where they spent the rest of their active 57 years together. Ken was a hard worker and he and Vi enjoyed time with family and friends. Back in the day Ken did not mind a little hunting w/his son and was always eager to plant a garden in the spring. You could often find him watching the beautiful birds on his feeders and shooing away the squirrels.

After 3 decades with the City of Overland Park as an Equipment Operator, Ken retired to fulfill his love for travel and the outdoors. For years following his retirement, Ken and Vi would travel in their RV spending several months out of the year camping and fishing. Ken was a member of the Shawnee Mission Baptist Temple and enjoyed bible study and the monthly men’s breakfast. Ken sang in the choir and was always open to an opportunity to share the gospel. Ken will be remembered for his fun personality, love for family, his pups and most importantly his strong faith.

Ken is survived by his Son, Will Kissee and his wife Lynn. His Sister Marion Roller and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and Sister Leona Welborn.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Johnson County Memorial Gardens with the funeral service at 11:00 am. The burial will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe, KS immediately following the service.
