Kimberly (Kim) Marie Simpson
Kimberly Marie Simpson was born on June 6, 1971, in Greenville, Texas, to Edd and Cheryl Rogers. She graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in 1989 where she was actively involved in several different sports lettering in soccer, basketball, & softball. Kim graduated from Kansas State University in 1993 where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and became a Wildcat fan forever.
After college Kim built a successful career in the insurance industry from Wichita to Kansas City, ultimately serving as Chief Operating Officer for Marsh McLennan in Overland Park, Kansas before retiring in April of 2025.
Outside of work, Kim was passionate about sports—especially cheering on the K-State Wildcats, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and occasionally the Dallas Cowboys. She loved running, spending time with her golden retriever, Mason, and sharing life’s adventures with her son, Sam, which included traveling to Royals and Phillies spring training. Kim was happiest by the ocean and never met a beach she didn’t love; among her favorite islands were Anguilla & Jost Van Dyke. She enjoyed cruising down highway 30A in Grayton Beach, Florida.
Kim passed away on November 11, 2025, after a 4-year battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Edd Rogers and her son Matthew Steven Simpson. She is survived by her husband, Steve Simpson; son Samuel Simpson, mother Cheryl Rogers; sister Kara Hendon, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends. We are also thankful for the wonderful caregivers from Catholic Community Hospice who made her peaceful and comfortable during this time.
Services are planned for November 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, KS in the Wesley Chapel. A celebration of life will follow at Johnson County Funeral Home in Overland Park, KS. Kim was passionate in her battle against cancer and donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice in her name.
