Larry "Bob" Robert Harris

Larry “Bob” Harris, 85, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on March 13th, 2026.

Bob was born on October 28, 1940, in Hutchinson, Kansas. A lifelong Kansan and proud Jayhawk fan, he was known to family and friends simply as Bob.

He began his career as a disc jockey in Topeka, spinning records for KTOP radio. He later transitioned into advertising sales for the station before moving into television. Bob worked for Kansas City station KMBC for 15 years, eventually serving as General Sales Manager. After leaving the television business, he founded Harris Market Research, continuing his career helping businesses grow and succeed.

Bob was an active member of the Plaza Rotary Club, where he proudly served as President for one year.

In January 1968, Bob married the love of his life, Ruth, affectionately known as “Ruthie Goose.” The two met while living in Topeka and moved to the Kansas City metro area in 1969. In 1974, they settled in their lifelong home in Overland Park, where they raised their two children and created many cherished memories.

Bob was known for his great sense of humor and his ability to make others laugh and feel heard. He was a devoted husband and a dedicated father who was always ready to offer advice, guidance, and support.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth, and his sister, Connie.

Bob is survived by his sister, Sherry of Fort Worth Texas; his daughter, Heather (Brad) of Overland Park, Kansas; his son, Sean (Jennifer) of Flower Mound, Texas; and his three grandsons, Peyton, Noah, and Benjamin.

Bob’s jovial spirit and infectious laugh will be deeply missed, but his family finds comfort knowing he is at peace.

We love you forever, Dad.
