Linda K. Voelker, 77, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in Lenexa, Kansas. She was born on January 31, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Linda devoted much of her career to education, where she made a lasting impact as a teacher at Indian Woods Middle School. She held a master’s degree in English and education, reflecting her deep commitment to learning and to inspiring her students. In recognition of her influence, she was honored with the Buck O’Neill Legacy Seat, an award for which she was nominated by several of her students.

She was a member of Church of the Resurrection in Overland Park, Kansas. Linda found joy in reading, sewing, shopping, theater, and the arts. She was known for her strength, independence, and intelligence—qualities that defined both her personal and professional life.

Linda is survived by her son, Barry Scott Voelker of Olathe, Kansas, and her granddaughter, Kathryn Thomas. She also leaves behind her daughter in-law Bridget Voelker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lew A. Thompson and Marjorie L. Thompson; her daughter, Amy Thomas; and her husband, William B. Voelker.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

A reception will follow the services.
