Lois F. Morrison Hunter

June 6, 1932 — February 9, 2022

Lois Ferne Morrison Hunter, 89, of Excelsior Springs, MO. Went to be with the Lord on February 9th, 2022 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Pleasant Valley, MO.

Lois was born to Flossie Cross (McGuire) and Curtis Cross on June 6, 1932 (or 8th) in Decaturville, MO.  Lois was the 2nd born out of 5 children to the Cross family. She attended a Baptist church in Stilwell and was baptized as a young Girl by Rev. Joe Porter in a creek near Stilwell, KS. When her family moved to Kansas City, MO. she stayed behind in Stillwell with friends for a few months to finish the 8th grade and then moved to Kansas City, MO. with her family and attended Paseo High School. Lois married Claudie Morrison on August 31, 1951 and they had 4 children, Carl, Sally, Curtis, and Donna. Once Carl was born, she stayed home to be a homemaker and developed several home-based businesses to help the family income. She loved the outdoors, she liked to go camping, fishing, boating, and even though she was afraid of water, she made sure her children learned to swim. After Claudie retired they enjoyed life as snowbirds; in the summer they were the camp host at Clinton Lake, where they were able do lots of fishing. Claudie preceded her in death, after 43 years of marriage on December 24, 1994.  Lois attended the Assembly of God Church of Overland Park, where she met Robert (Bob) Hunter. Bob and Lois were marred on June 18th, 1997 in Benton County, Arkansas. Lois became a city farmer in Shawnee, KS. They went camping in the mountains, raised cattle, worked the ground, and loved to attend and watch their kids/grandkids participate in rodeos. Bob preceded her in death after 14 years of marriage on December 12th, 2011. She then moved to Excelsior Springs, MO. to live with her son, Carl and daughter-in-law Becky. She was a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Lois was preceded in death by Curtis Cross (father), Flossie Cross (mother), Jimmie Cross (brother), Doris Ives (sister), Claudie Morrison (1st husband), and Robert Hunter (2nd husband). Survivors are 2 sisters Vicky Barber of La Cygne, KS., Betty Kay of Niangua, MO., 6 children Carl Morrison (Becky) of Excelsior Springs, MO., Sally James of Kansas City, KS., Curtis Morrison of Raymore, MO., Donna Morrison (Angela) of Preston, MO., Linda Couch (Larry) of Shawnee, KS., and Judy Smith (Terry) of Shawnee, KS., 11 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.
