Mrs. Loretta Hey

Loretta Jean Hey (Lorri Wrabec), 83, of Olathe, KS passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014. Lorri was born September 30, 1930 in Sugar Creek, MO the 11th child of Paul & Theresa Wrabec. She grew up during the depression with her 5 brothers and 8 sisters and as a young woman she loved to sing. She worked as a secretary for Hallmark Cards in KC, MO and later traveled through Europe and lived for a short time in Ireland where she met her future husband, John Hey. After returning home she settled in Merriam, KS, and married John in 1965. They had 2 children. Lorri went on to work at Hudson Oil Company, Pyramid Life Insurance, and ultimately retired from Dal-Tile in Lenexa, KS in the early 90's. Her lifelong interests were family, friends, church, and politics. She was preceded in death by her parents; her 5 brothers: John, Joseph (d. Irene), Jerome, Leonard (Mary), and Stan Wrabec; her 6 sisters: Pauline Wipotnik-Heckmueller (d. Ludwig & William), Millie Kelly (d. Jim), Marcia Haworth, Frances Enges (d. George), Theresa McAuley (d. Phillip), and Aggie Wrabec. She is survived by her 2 sons, Gregory and Geoffrey (Ronda) Hey; her 2 sisters: Sylvia Begley (d. Jim) of Pueblo, CO and Carol Clairmont (d. Conrad) of Bristow, VA; her sister in law Mary Wrabec of Sugar Creek, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday, July 21, at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Tuesday, July 22, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, KS 66204. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Avenue. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Cancer Action, 10520 Barkley, Ste. 100, Overland Park, KS 66212.
