Carol Lynne Couchman

Carol Lynne Couchman, age 65, died on March 22, 2025 in Newport Beach, California. She was known by her family and friends as Lynne but occasionally used her first name.

Lynne was born in Memphis, Tennessee and lived there until the mid-1960s, when her family moved to Overland Park, Kansas. She graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in Overland Park in 1978.

Lynne attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas for four years. She joined the Alpha Phi sorority, where she met several lifelong friends.

Outgoing and strong-willed, Lynne excelled at sales. She worked as a sales executive in the corporate travel industry in Chicago. Later, she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she worked in mortgage sales.

Lynne loved small dogs and cats. For years, she owned and bred award-winning Persian cats. She loved all things Victorian and collected antique porcelain, crystal, and wall pockets. Above all, she loved to collect vintage costume jewelry, which she did for over 40 years.

Lynne thrived on social gatherings. She was a flamboyant, but tasteful, dresser, who adorned herself with colorful costume jewelry. She enjoyed almost any social gathering, but especially loved high teas, to which she playfully would wear vintage hats.

In her 30s, Lynne began to experience health problems. She developed fibromyalgia and for many years lived in chronic pain. The incessant pain slowed her, but she did not let it stop her from doing the things she loved.

Lynne was an instant friend to everyone and was loyal to and supportive of her close friends. She was always available to talk if a friend needed her. She was smart, witty, quick with her smile, and generous with her kindness.

Lynne actively participated in Facebook groups dedicated to vintage costume jewelry. She was a true friend to many people on Facebook, who admired her passion for living, positive outlook, courage, and kindness.

Lynne’s beloved mother, Jo Elizabeth Couchman, and her father, Henry Edward Couchman, preceded her in death, as did her beloved first cousin, Lianne Amanda (Littell) Gayler, and her nephew, Alexander James Couchman. Lynne is survived by her brother, Henry E. Couchman Jr., of Kansas City, Kansas.

Lynne will be laid to rest with her mother and father in the mausoleum at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas. At her request, no service will be held.
