Margaret L. Anderson

Margaret Jean Lester Anderson passed away peacefully on April 13, 2021 at age 98, in Olathe, Kansas.

Margaret was born in Duluth, Minnesota to William Lester and Margaretha Norum Lester on July 13th, 1922. In 1935 the family moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan where she lived until marrying her husband, Emmett Anderson, of Carney, Michigan in 1941.

Margaret worked at Hotflame Gas Company in Carney, Michigan for many years. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time with Emmett at the lake, walking in the woods, camping, snowmobiling with friends, crafting and woodworking for their small shop. She also was an avid reader, loved writing her stories, taking classes, and cross-country skiing. She was a member of the Carney Evangelical Free Church and later, the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Kansas. In 2001 she moved to Lawrence, then Overland Park to be near family.

She was dearly loved and will be remembered by those who knew her as a loving, supportive mother with a positive attitude, a fun sense of humor and always up for trying something new.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Emmett, and her sister, Jackie Long. She is survived by her three daughters Margaret (Peg) Anderson-Lee of Leawood, Kansas, Terri (Steve) Magnuson of Denver, Colorado, and Gail Anderson of Gardner, Kansas; three grandchildren Dane Anderson of Gardner, Casey Magnuson of San Francisco, and Krista Magnuson of San Diego; two step-grandchildren Bryan Lee and Courtney Lee, 2 step-great grandchildren Aidan Lee and  Nora Lee and their mother, Jenny Lee.

Burial will take place at the Carney Free Church Cemetery in Carney, Michigan at a later date.
