Marilyn Lee Frans (Nelson) passed away Saturday June 11 at Kansas City Hospice House after a lengthly battle with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. She was born September 28,1937 in Kansas City, MO., the daughter of Miles & Frances Nelson.
Marilyn graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1955 & William Jewell College in 1959 with an Education Degree. She married James Frans, and on the June 17th, they would have enjoyed their 62nd wedding anniversary. Marilyn enjoyed playing golf, was a voracious reader, and was always up for a game of bridge. Marilyn was generous with her time and talents volunteering at St. Luke’s Hospital for 23 years and as a Master Gardner she volunteered at the Overland Park Arboretum. Marilyn loved to travel and see new places & sights. A perfect day was working in her garden in the morning and playing bridge with friends in the afternoon.
Marilyn leaves behind her husband Jim, daughters Jill Youtsey (Phil) and Mendy Donnelly (Mark), 5 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. Brother Edwin Nelson and several nieces & nephews. Marilyn had a good life filled with laughter, family and good friends. Marilyn was loved & will be missed.
