Marilyn Hagedorn

June 28, 1928 — May 24, 2007

Marilyn (Bender) Hagedorn, 78, went home to be with her Lord on May 24, 2007, at the Parkway Care Home in Edwardsville, Kan.

Marilyn was a woman of deep faith and many abilities. After graduating from the Mark Twain School in Kansas City, Kan., she earned her GED and graduated from Caster's Beauty Academy. Marilyn worked in a variety of occupations such as beautician, switchboard and teletype operator, and receptionist. Throughout her life, Marilyn's friends and family enjoyed her joyful singing and the many arts and crafts items she created including a Christmas tree made out of jewelry, which she proudly displayed at the Parkway Home.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Edward Hagedorn, her brother, Theodore Bender Jr., and her parents, Theodore and Leona Bender of Kansas City, Kan. She is survived by two sons, Lynn A. Norton and his wife Tina Hacker of Leawood, Kan., and Charles Douglas Norton of Louisville, Texas; two grandchildren, Charles "Charlie" Douglas Norton, Jr. and Cecelia Diane Norton, also of Louisville, and an uncle, Coy Fleming of Warsaw, Mo., as well as many friends.

Visitation will begin at noon followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Funeral Home, 11200 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park, Kan. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, 322 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan. Born on June 28, 1928, in Kansas City, Kan.,
