Marilyn M West of Lenexa, Kansas went to be with Jesus on December 24th, 2021. She passed away peacefully at Clover Care Home in Shawnee, Kansas where she had been in memory care for six years. She was born in Esbon, KS to Daniel Welch and Hope (Ozmun) Welch and attended Esbon High School. After graduating, she moved to KC, Mo and worked as a secretary where she met her husband Richard F West who preceded her in death 2002. They lived in Overland Park for two years before moving to Lenexa where together they raised their three children. Marilyn was a homemaker and part time school bus driver who devoted her life to family and serving God. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lenexa where she was a bible teacher, organist, and choir director. She was also involved in mentoring women through prison ministry. She enjoyed playing piano and organ, singing, dancing, and traveling. She was a member of Sweet Adelines, KC chapter. She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Hope Welch, brothers Royal Rice, Dean Welch, Larry Welch, her sister Viginia (Welch) Gardner, son Kenneth West, husbands Richard F West and Donald Whitmill. She is survived by her children Daniel West (Belinda), Debra Wood, and daughter in law Melanie West, grandchildren Patrick Whisler (Christy). Sam Whisler, Lareina Whisler, Heather Jadd (Mike), Jeremy Wood (Karina), Kody West (Andrea), Kasey West (Sheena), Kenzie West, sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Celebration of life will be at Lenexa Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022.  Memorials may be made to Lenexa Methodist Church, New Life Church in Gardner Kansas, or Urban Christian Academy of Kansas City, MO.
