Martha Metsker Philgreen, 77, of Overland Park, KS, passed away April 18, 2022 after experiencing a sudden heart attack in her home.
Martha was born on November 20, 1944 to Al and Vidy Metsker in Kansas City, MO. After Martha graduated from Shawnee Mission North in 1962, she went on to study at Calvary Bible College.
Martha met Donald Philgreen at a very early age. Their first date was in August of 1957, after a Youth for Christ rally. Martha and Don were married on Sept 4, 1964.
Martha was deeply respected and loved by all who knew her. She loved Jesus above all things and lived her life in faithful service to him. Those who knew her best say she was patient, kind, humble, and deeply happy. Even through suffering she considered others more important than herself. Many would say that she was as close to a living saint as they have known. She was a loving wife, a deeply committed and kind mother, a courageous mercy giver, an attentive counselor, a faithful friend, and a willing servant.
She is survived by her husband Don of 57 ½ years; her five children Topher (April), Michelle Gann (Brian), Kevin, Jonathan (Amanda), and Timothy (Emily); her siblings Marilyn Lewis (David) and Ronnie Metsker (Susan); twelve grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Martha’s memory can be made to The Signatry . Please note in the memo line of your check “Philgreen Memorial Fund”.
