Marvin Walter (Mac) McIntosh, Jr.

Marvin McIntosh, 76, died peacefully surrounded by family at the Hospice House of Kansas City Saturday May 12, 2007 after a valiant battle with cancer. He faced his disease with the same qualities he brought to life: passion, courage and faith. Visitation will be held Monday May 14, 2007 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf in Overland Park from 5:30-7:30PM.

A service to celebrate his life will be 11am Tuesday May 15, 2007 at the Leawood United Methodist Church, 2915 W. 95th Street in Leawood. Marvin is survived by his wife of 29 years JoAnn, brother Alfred McIntosh, children Mike and wife Jana, Debbie and fianc? Eldon, Mark, Matt and wife Susan, Marsha, Rick and wife Linda, Roger. He was the proud grandfather of Travis, Ryan, Andre, Eric, Andrew, Hadleigh, Ben, Kyle, Lyndsey, Chelsea, Nick and Rachel, great granddaughter Myleigh.

Born January 9, 1931 in St. Joseph, Missouri, Mac was a 1948 graduate of Lafayette High School. Upon graduation he enlisted with the Marine Corps and served with the post-occupation forces in Japan. In 1951, he moved to Kansas City, where he began a 35-year career in defense-contracting sales. He retired as Vice President of Sales for Twin City Tool, a division of Litton Industries. He was a member of Leawood United Methodist Church, the Shawnee Masonic Lodge and the DGA golf association.

Mac, an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed a 15-year career as coach and mentor to Raytown, Missouri area youth. After his children were grown, this passion extended to his grandchildren and golf. A proud Scotsman, Mac lived his dream after playing a round of golf at the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland.

Mac was preceded in death by sisters Mary Ann DeHart and Jackie Ballenger, brothers John and Russell and grandson Nathan Hunt.

The family would like to thank all the healthcare and hospice professionals who provided Mac such loving and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice House of Kansas City or the Leawood United Methodist Church.
