Mary K. Durham

Mary Kathleen (Rohrer) Durham passed away on October 15, 2023, after a life-long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.  Mary was born on March 1, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri to Monica and Walter Rohrer.  She attended Loretto Academy and graduated from graduated from Avila University with a degree in Nursing. She then worked at the VA Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for 18 years until her retirement. In 1984, she met the love of her life, David Durham, and they were married in 1986. During the early years of their 37 year marriage they enjoyed snow skiing and traveling. Mary was devoted to her Catholic faith. She never complained and accepted her illness without lament. God blessed Mary with Barb, Diane, and Sharon, caregiving Angels who brought respite to Dave and such love and joy to both. Mary was preceded by her parents, Monica and Walter Rohrer, and her nephew, Patrick Rohrer. She is survived by her loving husband, David, her sisters, Jo Anne Ward and Elizabeth Smith, and her brothers, John Rohrer and Tom Rohrer, four sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, fourteen nieces and nephews and 18 great nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor at 10am.  Visitation will begin at 9am in the church with the Rosary being prayed at 9:45.
