Matthew Charles Riley

Matthew Charles Riley, 53, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on July 10, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Born in Denver on March 20, 1972, Matt was a loving husband, devoted partner, and a kind and loyal friend. He built a successful career in the telecom and information technology industry, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues across the country. His work took him from Colorado to California, Hawaii, and eventually Kansas, leaving a lasting impact wherever he went.

Matt was also a passionate youth baseball and football coach, sharing his love of sports and mentorship with countless young athletes. He had an enormous passion for music (often choosing a special song for those he loved), a deep appreciation for fast cars, and a talent for making life fun with his signature “dad jokes,” unforgettable hugs, and vibrant sense of humor.

He will be remembered most for his enormous heart, his unwavering support for those he loved, his ability to make others feel seen and valued, and his beautiful smile. His presence truly lit up every room.

Matt is survived by his wife, Julie; his children, Kierstin Riley (and granddaughter Amelia Belle Sancrant), Daniel Riley, and Jacob Riley, along with their mother, Brandy Riley. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa Bewley, and his brother, David Riley.

Matt’s warmth, humor, love and generosity touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed.
