Born in Kansas City Missouri, April 28, 1967. Mike died February 9, 2022 after a lengthy battle with chronic illness. He is survived by his children Elaine and Tom Williams, and their mother Karen Wolfe Williams, his mother and father, Linda and Dr. Tom Williams, his brother, Eric (Marcia) Williams, his sister, Christy (Michael) Williams Dunton, his nieces Codi (Zach) Robbins Rooney and Rio (David Pilabosian) Dunton along with a wide and grieving extended family who deeply loved him.
He grew up in Leawood, Kansas and graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School and then from Johnson County Community College with a degree in Heating and Air Conditioning. He worked in building maintenance and grounds keeping for a variety of building complexes and living centers. He was a talented repair and handyman. He married Karen Wolfe Williams and enjoyed their lives as they moved from Maui, Hawaii to Buffalo, New York and back to Olathe, Kansas to raise their always beloved children who meant the world to him.
Michael was a kind and compassionate man who was gifted with an excellent memory, a unique sense of humor, musical taste and personal style that will be terribly missed. His creative talents and interests included building model airplanes & cars, building and launching rocketry, painting, landscape design and collecting rare Americana. He was a well-read, knowledgeable automotive enthusiast who enjoyed racing his RX7, go-carts, and model race cars. He was also an athlete who could drive a golf ball over 300 yards. He was a passionate advocate for preserving the natural world, and caring for the vulnerable.
He left us too soon. We find comfort in his freedom from pain, and we know that his memories will foster more love in the world.
