Nancy Lynn Nichols, age 87, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, at her memory care residence at Sunrise of Overland Park, Kansas, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Nancy was born on February 23, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, to George A. Nichols and Jean K. Nichols. She was raised in the Chicago area and attended school there. Over the course of her life she lived many places, finally settling in Overland Park, Kansas.
She treasured family gatherings, holidays, traditions, vacations, and the simple joy of being together. Her greatest happiness came from the people she loved.
Nancy enjoyed a very successful modeling career in Chicago. Looking back at family picture albums you can tell the camera loved Nancy and she loved it back. After retiring from modeling, Nancy had many other jobs.
Anyone who knew Nancy remembered her smile, her kindness, and her generosity. The staff at Sunrise of Overland Park knew her as “Ms. Nancy” and would comment that she never had a bad day.
Nancy enjoyed painting, gardening, going out to dinner and listening to music. She loved reading and even wrote a book that was published.
When Alzheimer’s entered her life, her friends gradually watched as her memory faded. It was heartbreaking to see such an intelligent and capable woman struggle with things that once came naturally. Alzheimer's never took away the most important parts of Nancy. Even at the end, her face would light up when family and friends entered her room. That amazing smile remained.
Nancy is survived by her son, Michael J. Perry, two grandchildren, Danielle and Amanda, and her sister, Linda Jean Nichols. She was predeceased in death by her parents, her son, John A. Perry, and her late husband, Donald M. Fox.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Nancy’s name to Ascend Hospice, 4550 West 109th Street, Suite 210, Overland Park, Kansas 66211.
Funeral services will be held on October 2, 2026, at 10:00 o’clock a.m., at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66210.
