Norma Freely

Norma Freely, 91, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at her residence at Maggie’s Place at Colonial Village.  She was born in 1930 in Emporia, Kansas to Fredrick & Anna Laura Haase.  She graduated from Kansas University where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.  In 1953 she married her college sweetheart, Donald L. Freely.  Norma was the mother of Michael Freely and Debbie Freely-Hall (Tracy), the grandmother of Stephanie VanHoose (Brad) and Matthew Hall (Sarah), and the great-grandmother of Colin and Nick VanHoose, and Everett and Elsie Hall.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Freely, and her son, Michael Freely.

Norma & Don celebrated 67 years of marriage living in both Overland Park and Leawood, Kansas.  Norma was a big KU basketball fan, Alpha Delta Pi alumna, member of Chi Omega Mother’s Club, & Kansas City Young Matrons.  She and Don traveled extensively in the US and Europe.  Their favorite place was Marco Island, Florida where they would spend the month of March in a beachfront condo.

Norma especially loved her “bridge ladies” & and the numerous bridge clubs she participated in.  Lastly, she was a “HUGE” dog lover, but Labs topped the list!  See you soon Spice and Meg!
