Patricia Balter

December 9, 1930 — September 23, 2018

Patricia Ann “Patti” Balter of Overland Park, KS passed away on September 23, 2018 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of 67 years to Wesley Balter; devoted mother of Terri (Tim) Backes, Mark (Mary) Balter, and Jeff Balter; cherished grandmother of Sarah (Ryan) McMinn, Chad Balter, Ashley (Sean) Dickerson, Greg (Diane) Backes, Emily Backes, and Wesley Balter; and adored grandma-great of Jaden, Elsi, Ayla, Quinn, Zane, Logan, and Katherine. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and daughter-in-law Sheila.

Patti was strong and determined in every aspect of her life, as evidenced by her defeat of polio as a young woman and her creation of a home for her family in a brand new city. She was an avid sports fan, whose lifetime loyalty to her beloved Chicago Cubs was finally rewarded in recent years. Patti routinely played bridge with a group of valued friends and was known to be a fierce competitor who could count her opponent’s cards. Patti enjoyed listening to her husband tell stories, always able to fill in the names and details of past memories, and loved spoiling her troop of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dogs. In everything she did and for every occasion, she was and appeared to be, regal.

Patti will be remembered for her fierce heart, strong will, and spirited personality. And, to her family, as a giver of the best strong and loving hugs.
