Peggy M. (Stoker) Stewart July 2, 1932 – July 27, 2025

Peggy M. Stewart, age 93, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 27, 2025. She was born on July 2, 1932, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Merrian M. Stoker and Evia L. Stoker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Stewart; her parents; her brother, James O. Stoker; her daughter, Lucinda L. Howell; her stepdaughter, JoAnn Stewart; and her stepson, William A. Stewart.

Peggy is survived by her children: Merrian R. Hodge of Overland Park, KS; Vega M. Howell Jr. of Cainsville, MO; Christopher C. Howell of Shawnee, KS; Evia J. Maag of Salina, KS; Patricia M. Miller of Salina, KS; and Monta L. Koons of McPherson, KS. She is also survived by adopted daughters Virginia M. Burnham of Shawnee, KS and Lisa L. Stewart of Wichita, KS; stepdaughters Marilyn J. Stewart of Wichita, KS and Deborah C. Stewart of Wichita, KS; and stepson Larry N. Stewart of Mulvane, KS.

She leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren who brought great joy to her life.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.

In addition to flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Peggy’s honor to St. Jude's or Interim Hospice, whose support was deeply appreciated.
