Phyllis Walters

Phyllis Dean Walters,of Overland Park Kansas, peacefully followed his voice to her eternal home on Saturday Sept 10th 2022 surrounded by family.
Phyllis Coers was born in Waldron IN., on November 27, 1931. She resided there until she married Bryan B (Buckey) Walters September 1, 1950. The first time Buckey saw Phyllis, never having met her, he proclaimed to his friend, “That is the girl I’m going to marry.” He was correct, they shared 65 years of marriage.

Phyllis is survived by her son Bryan Brooks Walters lll ,Tracey Walters Goforth and her husband Dano of Morrison Co,Granddaughter Christi and great granddaughter Zoee of Colorado.  Two sisters and their husbands Sharon Brattain and Elmer, Janet Carlstrom and Jon, and sister-in-law Janet Coers Mason all of Indiana. Gary Coers her only brother passed in 1994.

Phyllis and Buckey were also members of the Midnighters Dance Club, and loved to travel. They would often go to the airport pick a destination and head out for adventures in the US and abroad.

Phyllis was an active member of the Country Methodist church since 1956, she enjoyed being a lay member for their annual conferences.

For 23 years she assisted DrDean Dyer in his Orthodontic practice in prairie Village, often tightening the braces of her own children.

Upon retirement she joined the St Lukes Hospital Auxiliary. She was called to the heart Institute waiting room, comforting families in regards to their loved ones preparing for major surgeries.

Phyllis was a member of EG chapter of P.E.O. A very active member never revealing to her family what the purpose of the organization was.

Phyllis and Buckey also supported the cursillo community in Kansas City spending many hours writing notes and encouraging others to become good Christians.

Phyllis was forever grateful for the Love and devotion that her son Brooks, gave to her and her dearly loved husband Buckey, as Brooks was the one to care for them during their final years on earth.

There will be a celebration of life at the Country Club Methodist church to be determined. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations be  made to The American Heart Assoc. Kansas City Hospices, or C.C.Methodist church.
