Ray Alan Klamm, 66, of Runaway Bay, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer and heart failure. His beloved wife, Rebecca Lynn Klamm, remained faithfully by his side throughout his illness and was with him when he entered his heavenly home.
Ray was born on December 31, 1959, in Jackson County, Missouri, to Emmett Alton Klamm and Emma Faye (Meads) Klamm. He spent most of his life in Overland Park, Kansas, where he was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and ability to have a comeback for just about everything.
After completing the 11th grade, Ray later earned his GED, demonstrating the determination and perseverance that would characterize his life. In February 1980, he began his career as a truck driver with A.J. Goss Distributors (Hiland Dairy) in Kansas City, Missouri, as a proud member of Local Union 41. Over the course of more than 40 years, Ray dedicated himself to his work, often taking on additional part-time jobs on weekends to provide for his family. He retired in December 2016 after a long and respected career.
Ray met the love of his life, Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Klamm, in 1989. They were married on May 2, 1992, in Kansas City, Kansas, beginning a marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion. Becky was truly the center of Ray’s world. He affectionately called her by many nicknames, including “Sweet Cheeks,” “Baby Cakes,” “Babe,” and “Sweetheart.” Every day, he reminded her how much he loved her and how beautiful she was.
The couple made their home on Goodman Street in Overland Park until 1995 before moving to 93rd Street, where they remained until Ray’s retirement. In December 2016, they fulfilled their dream of lake living and moved to Warsaw, Missouri. Ray thoroughly enjoyed life on the water, spending countless hours fishing, boating, and enjoying the beauty of the Ozarks. In August 2025, Ray and Becky relocated to Runaway Bay, Texas, on Lake Bridgeport to be closer to family, where they lived together until his passing.
Ray was an avid collector who enjoyed Hot Wheels, Bigfoot memorabilia, gas station collectibles, and antiquing adventures with Becky throughout the Ozarks. Whether spending time at the lake, sharing stories, making people laugh, or searching for the next treasure at an antique shop, Ray found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in the people he loved.
Most importantly, Ray had recently given his heart to the Lord and found comfort in his faith. His family rejoices in knowing he is now at peace with his Heavenly Father and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Alton Klamm and Emma Faye (Meads) Klamm; his paternal and maternal grandparents; his oldest brother, Karl Eugene Klamm; brother-in-law, Michael Weaver; and grand-puppy, Star Elizabeth Johnson.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Rebecca Lynn Klamm; daughter, Alysa Stultz (Cody) of Montana; fur-daughter, Molly Lu Klamm (“Buddy”/“Moomoo”) of the home; son, Matthew Riley Klamm (Nikki) of Bates City, Missouri; son, Dustin Alan Klamm of Grain Valley, Missouri; step-son, Jeren Michael Johnson (Tabatha) of Lincolnton, North Carolina; and step-daughter, Amy Kristen Stewart of Florida.
