Robert Blair Martin, 56, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2006. He was born July 13, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois. He is the son of Robert Daniel Martin and Bonnie Jean (Blair) Martin. He was a loving and wonderful husband to his wife, Rhonda. Bob graduated from Wentworth Military Academy in 1968. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from ASU in 1972, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Bob was a Captain in the Army of the United States. In 1974 Bob was awarded the Zellerbach Award for the most effective use of paper in the solution of a communications problem while he was a partner of SHR Graphics. He was a subject of biographical record in the 21st Edition of Who?s Who in the West for having demonstrated outstanding achievement in his field of endeavor for having contributed significantly to the betterment of contemporary society.

As a senior illustrator for Hallmark Cards, Bob created humorous artwork for all product categories. He loved the computer and was considered by peers as one of the most proficient in its use. Bob was widely known for and happiest when creating lavishly detailed cartoon depicting very funny, often absurd situations that drew the observer into an exploration from one zany point of view to another. He loved most creating fantastic puzzles. Bob?s contribution and enthusiasm to a company he was so dedicated to will be tremendously missed. Please keep Bob and his family in your prayers.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Daniel Martin. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 33 years Rhonda; mother Bonnie Jean Martin of Sun City, Arizona; an aunt; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and a large group of friends.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Memorial Service which will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Memorial contributions are suggested to Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, MO, or Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 5425 Martindale Road, Shawnee, KS 66218.
