Robert S. "Bob" Curry III, aged 82, passed away on December 18, 2024. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, he grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated high school from CBC. Bob earned his undergraduate and nursing degrees from St. Louis University and furthered his education with an MBA from the University of Missouri.
In the 1960s, Bob served in the National Guard and later pursued a career as a registered nurse at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Thanks to careful saving, he was able to retire early. An avid runner, Bob completed over a dozen marathons. In his 40’s, Bob transitioned to walking. Remarkably, he maintained a routine of walking ten miles daily, regardless of the weather, until his late 70s.
Bob was a generous supporter of numerous causes, notably the American Lung Association, and was an outspoken advocate against smoking. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert S. and Flora Veeder Curry. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Bauman of Overland Park, Kansas, and Veeder Ann Willey of Canton, Michigan, as well as five nieces and nephews.
Bob's life was marked by his love of sports including the St. Louis Cardinals, his reliability and good sense of humor, and his devotion to a simple lifestyle. His steadfast routines and generous spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
