Rosa Marie Perez

Rosa “Rosie” Marie Perez, 83, passed away in the presence of family on July 19, 2025.

Born on August 30, 1941 in Austin, Texas, Rosie lived a joyful life centered around family, meals, and simple pleasures. She was a loving wife to Cruz Perez for almost sixty-eight years, most of which was in Kansas City, Missouri. Throughout life together they ran two restaurants, enjoyed date nights at dance clubs and casinos, and cherished hosting family holiday gatherings at home and at the lake. Rosie provided in-home daycare for grandchildren and later put her culinary skills to use providing meals for a neighborhood daycare.

Rosie appreciated the comfort of her Catholic faith. She drew strength from this faith as she cared for all her family to the best of her ability no matter what trials were encountered. She is survived by five sons: Joel, Robert (Donna), Jerry, Cruz Jr, John; son-in-law Howard “Perry” Sexton; eight grandchildren: Robert (Susan) Perez, Tiffany (Nathan) Harkins, James Perez, Joel (Elizabeth) Perez, Jessica Leon, Jesse (Alisha) Perez, Ashley Perez, Chloe Brown; and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Cruz Alvardo Perez and their daughter Deborah Ann Sexton.

Family and friends are invited to gather in memory of Rosa’s life Friday, July 25 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210. Visitation will be at 1:00, followed by a funeral service at 2:00, and burial at 3:00.

Memorial contributions are suggested to help offset funeral expenses in care of the funeral home.
