Shirley Ann Kurtz

Shirley Ann Kurtz was born February 3rd 1938 in Lanape, KS to Manuel Seever and Velma Clark.

Shirley was educated at DeSoto High School.  She was married to Oliver L. Kurtz "Doc" in 1955 and they were blessed with three children.

Shirley, as a simple housewife, stepped into a new and unfamiliar role as she inherited ownership of her husband's company, Doc Kurtz Trucking, after his sudden passing in 1977.

With the help of her three children she took the company to new exciting heights, helping build some of the most epic projects in the local community and the Kansas City Metro area. She worked and built some of the most meaningful and lasting relationships that still carry to this day. The company finally closed their doors in 1997, leaving behind a 20+ year legacy that her late husband "Doc" would've been impressed with and most importantly proud of.

Shirley enjoyed giving back to her community and local charities, she had a love for country music that was unmatched, and she absolutely loved shopping trips with her mother Velma. They would make a whole day out of it just because they could; they both had the craving for the good life and luxury.

Shirley departed this life while finally drawing her last breath on Sunday May 25th 2025. She is preceded by her late husband Oliver L. Kurtz "Doc" , her son Oliver L. Kurtz Jr. "Buddy" , and her granddaughter Carrie Kurtz in death.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her two beloved daughters, Deborah Kurtz Jackson "Debbie" and Beverly Michelle Vandewynkle "Shelli"; her lovely sister Beverly Cornell of Tennessee, as well as nine wonderful grandchildren and 15 beautiful great-grandchildren.

Shirley was a complicated person to figure out as well as to love, but one thing is for sure: love her or hate her no matter what, she left a lasting impression on you that you more than likely still carry with you to this day. That's just the kind of woman she was, like an ever-evolving enigma of love, deception, and spite, sprinkling in little surprises along the way, definitely a love-hate relationship, a two-sided coin that you never knew what was coming next, a 50/50 chance of a pleasant interaction or a ball of bad energy waiting to burst. She always kept you on your toes, that's for sure. Love or hate her, she was ours and most of us deep down wouldn't have it any other way. We love you Shirley all in our own special way and you will be missed. Rest easy you are now at peace.
