Sondra Raile, 82, of Overland Park, KS passed away on November 18, 2025.
Sondra was born on September 25, 1943 in Wichita, KS to Chester & Evelyn (Saum) Meyer. Sondra's father worked for Boeing in Wichita during WWII, and after the war was over Sondra and her family moved back to her father's family farm in Woodston, KS, where she spent the rest of her childhood. After graduating high school, Sondra moved to the Kansas City area where she met her future (predeceased) husband Merlyn "Joe" Raile while he was a student at the University of Kansas. They married in 1962.
After moving to Overland Park with her husband shortly after marriage, Sondra had one son, Chris, and was a stay-at-home mother. In the early 1980s Sondra attended Avila College in Kansas City, MO and received her Bachelor's degree. After graduation, Sondra worked in Human Resources at several companies before joining a consulting firm as a Human Resources consultant. Sondra eventually formed her own consulting business, Meridian Associates, which she operated until her retirement.
Sondra's main passions were sewing, having sewn most of her own wardrobe, and painting, having produced numerous paintings that she displayed on her apartment walls. Sondra was a kind and loving mother, known for her dry wit and strong opinions. Sondra is survived by her son, Chris (Nancy), her two grandchildren, Truman and Jade, and her cat, Winnie.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Johnson County Funeral Chapel. Inurnment following service in The Courtyard of Memories at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
