Steven Kent Thompson

Steven “Steve” Kent Thompson was called home to Heaven on May 5th, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on June 4th, 1956, in Kansas City, MO and was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

Steve was an incredibly loving and devoted father to his three children. He worked very hard his entire life to provide more for his children than he had for himself. He always put their needs before his own and encouraged them to pursue their interests. Steve's selfless nature was not limited to his children, however, as he was also a loyal and supportive friend. His kindness and relaxed demeanor had a positive and long-lasting impact on everyone that he interacted with. He will be forever loved and missed.

Steve had a fulfilling career in videography, working in a variety of productions including concerts, grocery commercials, sporting events, etc. He was a passionate techie, always exploring new gadgets and video/photo production techniques. He also loved travelling and photographing different places around the US and Japan. Steve was a lover of music from all genres. Some of his favorite free time activities in the 90’s were watching Pop up video on VH1 and driving around listening to Retro Saturday Night with his daughter. He was also a fan of many film series such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and anything made by Mel Brooks. He had a variety of hobbies over his lifetime including sailing, raising Saint Bernards, and could spin a bowling ball like a professional.

In lieu of a one-time service, family and friends are encouraged to celebrate his life in their hearts every day.
