A Life Lived with Open Arms: Wendy Heinrichs (Sanchez)
Wendy Heinrichs (Sanchez), a woman whose boundless warmth and generosity built a community of love around her, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at the age of 76 at North Kansas City Hospital. She was born on February 27, 1949, and was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas.
Wendy's generous heart and unwavering commitment to family—both related by blood and by love—define her legacy. She dedicated her professional life to public service, retiring from the US Treasury Department. Known affectionately by many as “Grandma Wendy”, her compassionate spirit ensured that everyone felt welcome, and this kindness extended to every creature, as she held an amazing love for animals throughout her life. This open-armed nature was beautifully reflected in the loving bond she shared with her beloved “neighborhood grandchildren”, Alexis Cervantes and Katie Cross.
Wendy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Beth Heinrichs and William Heinrichs, her loving daughters, Colleen Moody and Beth Moody, and her great-nephew, Levi Bono.
Wendy is survived by her son, Ryan Moody, her cherished grandchildren, Brittani Hurtado and Houston Moody, and her adoring great-grandchildren, Jacob Antunez, Aiden Antunez, and Izabella Antunez. She is also survived by her sister, Kathy, and her brothers, Billy and Raymond.
She will be dearly missed by her niece, Sherry Anspaugh, and great-nephew, Mason Anspaugh, as well as the many friends and extended family members whose lives she touched with her kindness.
Wendy leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and open arms.
