Wilber A. Copenhafer, Jr., was born in 1938 in Ottawa, Kansas, to Mary K. Knight-Copenhafer and Wilber A. Copenhafer, Sr. He grew up in Troy, Kansas, and pursued higher education at Kansas State University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Wilber had a distinguished career at George Butler & Associates, ultimately holding the position of President. Furthermore, he was a founding partner at Lucity, LLC, an engineering software development firm, where he played a significant role as a board member.
In 2016, Wilber relocated from the Kansas City area to New Port Richey, Florida with his wife, Terry K. Copenhafer. At the time of his passing, Wilber resided in the Tampa Bay area enjoying the beach life. He and Terry loved spending time at Honeymoon Island watching the dolphins and visiting family.
He is survived by his wife, Terry; daughter, Lori, and her husband, Stephen Barrett, along with their children: Trey, Kelsey, David, and Daniel. Wilber was also blessed with six great-grandchildren Adalynn, Anduin, Asher, Archie, Margo, and Alisdair.
Additionally, he is survived by his stepdaughters, Sandy, and her husband, Jeff Sherwood, and Julie Panyik, as well as grandchildren Chelsey and Josh.
