William "Bill" Nemecek, 82, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 2, 2021.
Bill was born December 14, 1938 in Waterloo, Iowa to William Nemecek and Dorothy Nemecek. Bill graduated Wentworth Military academy in 1959. He was stationed in Hawaii shortly after he enlisted in the United States Army. After serving 4 years in the Army as a Spec 4, Bill returned home to Kansas City, where he started at CPC and met Barbara Eden. Bill and Barbara were married on September 17, 1966 at Holy Name Catholic church in Kansas City, Kansas. They settled in Overland Park, KS and together they had two children: Lisa and Michael.
Bill retired in 2003 after 40 years working for National Starch and Chemical. Bill loved to travel and enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, and hiking. Bill was an avid NASCAR fan and raced locally in his 20s. Bill enjoyed traveling around the country on “adventures” with Barbara, including a dream retirement trip to Alaska.
Bill is survived by daughter, Lisa Nemecek (Olathe, KS); son, Michael Nemecek and wife, Melissa (Olathe, KS); Grandchildren Brooke Nemecek, Lauren Nemecek and Samuel Nemecek; Great Grandson Rilen Bontrager; brother James (Jené) Nemecek of Des Moines, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Nemecek and his parents William and Dorothy Nemecek.
