Barbara Emberton

April 28, 1948 — April 20, 2022

Overland Park, Kansas

Barbara “Barb” Sneed, 73, was born October 29th, 1948 to parents Marianne and Hubert Sneed. She was the eldest child of six and was seen as a dedicated sister to her younger siblings. Barbara graduated from Gardner High School in 1966 and was an active member of the Student Alumni after graduation. She became Barbara Emberton with her marriage to Glenn “Mike” Emberton in 1966. While they did divorce in the early 1990’s, she ultimately decided to keep the Emberton surname and they remained very loving lifelong friends.

After receiving her college education, Barbara led a successful decades-long career as a Paralegal and is remembered fondly by her colleagues of McCormick, Adam & McDonald, P.A. and Payne & Jones Law Firm. She is remembered fondly as someone who desired to keep her mind and body active, and was a great enjoyer of puzzles and trivia. She loved watching classic movies and discussing their legendary actors. Barb was a lifelong fan of the Jayhawks basketball team and would don the team’s mascot in support whenever she could. Barb gained experience with interior design from her time as a realtor during the late 1970’s. She decided to cultivate her experience into expertise during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s when she became a dedicated house flipper. As she settled into her favorite home and community she began a very prolific participation in her community’s garage sales. Barb became a figure in her community known for her sunny disposition and warm chats with her neighbors. Her kindness, intelligence, humor, warm laugh, patience, and iconic attitude made it easy for her to befriend many and be beloved by so many more. For these reasons and countless more, she was cherished by many family, friends, neighbors, and peers in her favorite puzzle game’s online community.

She is survived by her sister Claudia Sneed, brothers Neal Sneed, Roland Sneed, Robert Sneed, her daughter Donna Emberton, and her two grandchildren Andrea Emberton and Alexander Emberton.
