David Kartheiser

David Wayne Kartheiser, of Overland Park, KS, passed away September 3, 2021 in the arms of his beloved wife and daughters.

Dave was born on July 11, 1961 in Aurora, Illinois.  He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Aurora Central Catholic High School.  He and his family moved to Columbia, MO while he was in high school.  He graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia, and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia.  While working as assistant manager at Robinson’s Shoe Store in Columbia, he met his wife, Jane.  They were married August 3, 1985 in Jefferson City, MO.  They moved to the Kansas City area in 1986.

Dave worked in retail as well as various sales positions throughout his career.  Dave most enjoyed being with his family.  He was an expert vacation planner.  He was an avid Mizzou Tigers fan, and enjoyed tailgating and attending Mizzou sporting events.  He enjoyed fishing and boating, and was a master griller.  Dave loved entertaining family and friends at the lake.

Survivors include his wife Jane, daughters Emily and Madelyn, mother Linda Sutherland, sister Diane Kartheiser-Warner, and brother Mike Kartheiser.  Dave was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Kartheiser.  Dave will be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.  He will forever be known as “Cool Uncle Dave” to his nieces and nephews.  He loved spending fun times with all his family and friends. Dave’s clever humor and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be Monday September 6 from 4-6:30 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 11720 Nieman Road, Overland Park, KS 66210.  The funeral service will be Tuesday September 7 at Noon at Christ Lutheran Church.
