H. MARIE HAMM
Marie Hamm, 94 was born at home in Lucas County, Iowa during a huge snowstorm March 25, 1926. She was a schoolteacher beginning her career in a country school in Iowa at 18 years old where she taught grades 1-8. She attended Iowa State and Drake Universities. She was a radio engineer in Hannibal, Missouri where she met her husband George Hamm who precedes her in death. In her lifetime, she lived in Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas where she spent most of her life in Overland Park, Kansas as a schoolteacher in the Shawnee Mission School District for 32 years.
She was skilled in sewing, music, literature, and gardening. She had an impeccable knack for working hard, no matter the task, to see it through completion. Family was very important to her.
She was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church in Overland Park, Kansas.
Marie was also preceded in death by two sons; Dennis and Ed.
She is survived by a daughter; Janis (Nick) Macias, Grandchildren; Brian (Chrissy) and Nicole, Great grandchildren; Kailee, Kayden and Sydney.
