Joyce Elaine Bol

 

Joyce Elaine Bol passed away July 11, 2020 at the age of 89. She is survived by her 3 children: Susan Hensler. David Bol wife Jeanette, and Tom Bol wife Cree. She has 6 grandchildren: Matt Hensler, Michael Hensler, Katie Hensler (Haverty), Grace Bol, Emily Bol and Skyler Bol.

Joyce was born October 6, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa. She is proceeded in death by her parents Veo and Ward Arnold, brother Ward Ray, and her husband Don Bol.

Joyce met Don in highschool. They both attended Purdue University and were married soon after graduation on May 30, 1952. Joyce had a degree in home economics.

Early on in their marriage Joyce was a kindergarten teacher while Don served in the Coast Guard. After the Coast Guard, Don accepted a position with Union Carbide which began the numerous moves around the country. Don retired back to Leawood, Kansas where they have lived ever since.

Joyce has done volunteer work at the Village Presbyterian Church, was a volunteer part time as a reading tutor in the Kansas City, Kansas public school system, active in her Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, countless other commitees within the community, and always willing to lend a helping hand to her family, friends, and neighbors.

Joyce had a positive outlook on life. She loved her family and animals, especially dogs. She was witty, had a sense of humor, outgoing, spunky, sassy at times and a very charasmatic lady who was loved by all. She was friendly to everyone and always had something to talk about, even to complete strangers. She enjoyed vacationing and spending quality time with her family, especially during holidays and birthdays. She loved traditions. She loved socializing with their many groups of friends, cooking, seasonal decorating of her house, traveling all over the world, golf, tennis, skiing, war movies, bridge and her book club. Her favorite vacation spots were Sanibel Island in Florida, Beaver Creek in Colorado, and Maui in Hawaii.

She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
