Joyce Mary Townsend

Joyce Mary Townsend, 97, passed away January 21, 2020 at Brookdale Hospice, Overland Park, Kansas.

Joyce had been a resident of Overland Park, Kansas since 1974.  She was born on February 18, 1922 in Fresno, California to Florence and Jim Wallace.  Her early years were spent in California.  In 1945 she moved to Kansas, spending many years in Council Grove.  Later she married Harvard Townsend of Overland Park, who passed away in 1994.

Joyce is survived by her son; John Wortman, grandsons; Darrin Wortman, Sean Wortman-Goebel, granddaughter; Shannon Wortman and great grandson; Mason Wortman.  She is also survived by step-daughter; Joy Mills and her children; Ben and Morgan.  In addition, step-sons; Harvard, Jr. and Clark Townsend and one niece; Jene Burenheide completes her family.

Joyce loved her family and friends very much.  She will be missed by many.
