Mary Frances George (Fountain), 87 years of age, of Rural Paola, Kansas, Passed Away from Ovarian cancer June 17, 2020 at the family home with all of her immediate family present to comfort her. Mary Frances was born May 6, 1933 in Rural Paola, KS and is preceded in death by her father Arthur Fountain, mother, Myrtle Fountain (Elliott) and two brothers Arthur Fountain and Ronald Fountain. She is survived by her Husband of 67 years Harold E. George, son Bradford George (wife Lois George) of Louisburg, KS. Daughter Brenda Thornton (George) (husband Alan Thornton) of Olathe, KS, Four Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren.
Mary Frances was a stay-at-home mother until her children graduated High School. Mary Frances was then employed by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service for 25 Years. Upon her retirement, Mary Frances and Harold were able to secure the same land where Mary Frances was born, and years later subsequently passed away at.
Mary Frances was a member of P.E.O. Chapter FX and was recently recognized as a “Golden Girl” for fifty years of Service to the organization. Her passions were crafting, gardening, sewing and cooking and loved holidays especially Christmas and Easter.
Due to covid-19 restrictions, the service will be limited for immediate family, at the UM Church of the Resurrection Leawood Campus in the Westley Chapel on July 2, 2020 starting at 2:00pm. However, you are encouraged to come by at 2:30 for a rotating (40 in the building at a time) visitation following the service at the church for those who can make it and/or a reception at the house (35134 Spring Valley Rd, Paola, KS 66071) for those who want to stop by.
