Norman Louis Jensen

August 19, 1945 ~ May 28, 2022 (age 76)


Norman L. Jensen, 76 of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on May 28, 2022, surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle against cancer. He was the son of the late Florence (Hersperger) and Louis Jensen and was originally from Erie/Corry, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean (Measel) Jensen, his children Brett (Jill) Jensen and Marie Jensen, and his grandchildren Jared (Felicity) Jensen, Madison Jensen, and Porter Christian. Norman was a graduate of Academy High School (Erie, PA), Allentown Community College, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati where he was president of the Evening College Tribunal. He was a soccer referee and was active in the Land of the Oneidas Council of the Boy Scouts of America. During his Scouting years, he was a Cub Scout Leader, Cubmaster, Webelos Leader, Boy Scout Leader, and Scoutmaster. He served on numerous committees, received the District Award of Merit among other awards, attended and completed the advanced national leadership course for Wood Badge, and was nominated and approved as a member of the Order of the Arrow. Norman retired as owner of RPK Industries. He formerly held management positions with Turnbull Elevator, Dover Corporation, Dover-Earnest Holmes Division, Century Wrecker, Lorain, Pettibone Corporation, US West Financial Services and he consulted for various companies. Norman and his family called several places home including Cincinnati, OH, Newbern, TN, Chattanooga, TN, New Hartford, NY, and Overland Park, KS. He was a member of the Church of the Nativity.  Many will remember his ability to never meet a stranger and his wonderful sense of humor. Norman was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who put family first and provided kind and patient advice, guidance, and support always. At the family’s request, funeral and burial services will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to any no-kill animal shelter.
